23,661 - Move Botanic Specialist I to IRA Grant Service Area Vibrant Communities DCA Sonia Schmanski Bureau Name Portland Parks & Recreation Director Adena Long Funding Type Name Realignment Status: Recommended Package Desc Expense Recommended Total Urban Forestry partnered with Friends of Trees and nearly a dozen other local non-profit Personnel ($123,204) organizations on a successful federal grant application to support tree care, education, and outreach. ($123,204) Included in Urban Forestry’s allocation is funding for 1.0 FTE position for the five-year period of the grant. The funding was intended to increase staff capacity but can be reallocated to cover existing Revenue Recommended Total staff. General Fund Discretionary ($123,204) Service Impacts ($123,204) The work plan for the position moved from GF/Levy to the federal grant would need to be amended to align with the grant award’s scope of work. This is not anticipated to be a significant impact due to the degree of existing alignment already. Significant impacts are expected at the end of the federal grant’s period of performance. If new ongoing resources are not available this would result in the position being eliminated and result in reduced capacity for outreach supporting tree planting in priority neighborhoods and community education. Equity Impacts There are no anticipated equity impacts in the near term. The grant award prioritizes low-income, low-canopy, and racially diverse community in Portland which largely overlap with existing priority neighborhoods.
