23,617 - Reduce Each Lands Service Zone by One Seasonal Maintenance Worker Service Area Vibrant Communities DCA Sonia Schmanski Bureau Name Portland Parks & Recreation Director Adena Long Funding Type Name Reduction Status: Recommended Package Desc Expense Recommended Total This proposal reduces 1.0 FTE Seasonal Maintenance Worker (SMW) position in each Developed Personnel ($333,048) Park Service Zone. SMWs work up to 1600 hours per season. There are an average of three SMWs ($333,048) at each of the eight Developed Parks maintenance zones, depending on geographical location. Reducing one SMW position per zone will decrease basic maintenance and operations. Revenue Recommended Total Service Impacts General Fund Discretionary ($333,048) This change will impact service levels after September 1, 2025. After September, basic maintenance ($333,048) and operations in each Park Service Zone will be negatively affected. Equity Impacts PP&R is committed to providing seasonal employees with opportunities for advancement into full- time positions, particularly for individuals from historically marginalized communities, including people of color, Black individuals, and Indigenous peoples. However, a reduction in available work opportunities for these communities within Land Stewardship is anticipated due to this budget cut.
