23,603 - 103: PF&R Maintain Current Svc Level Service Area Public Safety DCA Mike Myers Bureau Name Portland Fire & Rescue Director Ryan Gillespie Funding Type Name General Fund Addition Status: Recommended Package Desc Expense Recommended Total This package requests resources necessary for the bureau to maintain its current response Personnel $3,300,000 capabilities with 171 emergency responders on duty per day. $3,300,000 Service Impacts Revenue Recommended Total Without these resources, the bureau would be required to reduce on-duty emergency responders by General Fund Discretionary $3,300,000 four FTE per day. This translates operationally to eliminating two of the bureau's three Rescue trucks: two-person response rigs that provide more agile response to medical calls in high-volume $3,300,000 areas. If these rigs are eliminated, the same calls would drive response to larger four-person engines and/or trucks. Equity Impacts Maintaining full capabilities of all rescue vehicles provides a layer of appropriate response to low- acuity medical calls in the most efficient manner. These calls disproportionately impact historically underserved populations, and maintaining operability of all Rescue units ensures the bureau can effectively and strategically manage staffing, meet the public's expectations of service delivery, and provide equitable levels of service across the City's geographies.
