This program ensures the PBOT $1,000,000 Vehicle Inspection Team contacts individuals, offers services, explains laws and codes, coordinates towing when appropriate, and stores the RV at a lot for the obligatory 30-day period, before it is Revenue Recommended Total destroyed by a contracted provider. These are derelict RVs that are hazardous—leaking fluids and raw sewage, have faulty wiring, are a health and safety hazard. General Fund Discretionary $1,000,000 Service Impacts $1,000,000 This team makes approximately 10,000 contacts a year and tows and destroys about 500 RVs every year. This is based on this past year’s work by the same team. This team tracks contacts, reports, tows, storage and destruction. They regularly work with Portland Solutions to determine expectations based on resource availability, including public safety support. Equity Impacts This team responds directly to community complaints and prioritizes the most high-impact vehicles in the city. This includes vehicles near schools, blocking access to buildings and homes, vehicles with public safety impacts, and vehicles emitting hazardous waste and materials. Number of contacts made, number of vehicles towed, and number of vehicles destroyed are all metrics measured by this program.
